The Kaleidoscope Orchestra is a 17-piece big band with an optional vocalist.
There is a sax section, a trombone section, a trumpet section, and a rhythm section of piano, bass, drums, and guitar.
Kaleidoscope also goes out in smaller versions.
Founded in 1979, The Kaleidoscope Orchestra played mainly concerts and gigs through the 1980's,
and eventually became the house dance band at Bolling Air Force Base Officers' Club in the early to mid 1990's, pleasing
its audiences of dancers and diners once and sometimes twice a weekend. The Kaleidoscope Orchestra of
the 21st century is continuing by playing dances and concerts.
Our book of tunes is extremely well suited to dancing and listening. It is full of familiar
popular jazz standards, songs made famous by such bands, composers and vocalists as: Frank Sinatra,
Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Henry Mancini, and Perez Prado.
There is a wide variety of dance beats including swing, ballad, bounce, cha cha, polka, tango, waltz, and
even some classic rock, plus music for special occasions like anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, and holidays.
